The ERA Chair holder has experience in communicating science and other topics to his peers and to society. He is a proficient user of professional networking platforms with for instance ±2,500 connections and ~3,000 followers on LinkedIn. In addition, occasionally he is asked to contribute to “Sunday papers” with articles about ongoing health-related topics, mostly in the Greek press. Prof. Perrakis is also an active and proficient communicator at conferences, meetings, workshops and webinars. He had an active Twitter account (@TassosPerrakis) with 180,000 Tweet impressions in 2022 and ~2,000 twitter followers; he had decided to stop posting from this account and stop using X for personal reasons related to the take-over of the platform. Prof. Perrakis also keeps a Facebook account with 3,200 contacts, where he often communicates about research policies, health, and science, e.g. about the corona crisis, higher education reform and his own science (as the account is personal sport and politics are also a common theme).
An excellent communication opportunity to the the public, was a series of interviews of all ERA chairs in the well-known Greek Newspaper Kathimerini, by journalist Apostolos Lakasas on April 23, 2024: https://www.kathimerini.gr/society/562990555/ki-omos-irthan-stin-ellada-gia-ereyna/. This initiative was initiated during the ERA chairs meeting at Heraklion, Crete.
